A GOAL after the siren to Josh Formosa propelled Strathfieldsaye into the Addy Iso-Season Bendigo league grand final on Saturday.
With the Storm trailing Sandhurst by four points in the dying seconds of their second semi at the QEO, Formosa was awarded a free-kick for a high tackle 25m out straight in front.
With the result of the game resting on his boot, Formosa stood up under pressure, kicking the goal at the Barnard Street end to deliver the Storm a 12.12 (84) to 12.10 (82) win, setting up a grand final showdown with Golden Square next week.
It was a gritty win by the Storm, who had trailed by as many as 20 points early in the third term, before they edged their way in front by one point at quarter-time, 9.9 to 9.8, setting up a frantic last quarter.
The Dragons spent the bulk of the final term in front, including by10 points at the 20-minute mark, before the Storm kicked the final two goals against the tide of momentum to clinch a thrilling win.

LBU vs LEITCHVILLE-GUNBOWER
A barnstorming first half paved the way for Lockington-Bamawm United to advance to the Heathcote District grand final.
The Cats burst out of the blocks superbly against Leitchville-Gunbower, racing to a 40-point lead at half-time, 9.7 to 3.3.
With a blowout looming, a reinvigorated Bombers' side returned to the field after the break and produced a brilliant display of attacking, play on at all costs football.
The Bombers closed the gap to 19 points at three quarter-time and continued their gallant surge in the final term, but fell just short as the Cats clung on to win 13.10 (88) to 12.10 (82).
There were anxious moments late for the Cats as the ball spent the final minute in the Bombers' attacking 50 as they desperately fought for one last goal to send the game into extra time.

Pyramid Hill proved too strong for Calivil United in their Loddon Valley semi.
The Demons started well kicking the opening goal of the game, but from there it was the Bulldogs who held the upper hand for the remainder as they extended a 19-point half-time advantage into a 32-point victory, 14.12 (96) to 9.10 (64).

Sea Lake Nandaly kicked the last six goals against Wedderburn to book its berth in the North Central league grand final.
The Redbacks trailed by 12 points at three quarter-time before kicking the first two goals of the final term through veteran Ben DeAraugo to hit the front by one point, 8.9 to 8.8.
But that's where the charge ended for the Redbacks as the Tigers upped the ante, ending the match by kicking 6.4 to 0.0 to run away with a 14.12 (96) to 8.9 (57) victory.

Navarre defeated Lexton by 21 points in their Maryborough-Castlemaine District league semi.
The Grasshoppers led by 25 points at half-time, before the Tigers fought back into the contest with a four-goal to one third term to close within eight points at the final change.
However, that would be as close as the Tigers got for the rest of the game as the Grasshoppers reasserted their authority in the final term, kicking 4.3 to 2.2 to prevail 12.10 (82) to 9.7 (61).

Sandhurst triumphed by one goal in an enthralling Bendigo league netball semi against Gisborne.
No more than three goals separated the two sides at any stage, but it was the Dragons who had the lead at the only time that mattered - the final whistle.
The Dragons prevailed 46-45, setting up a grand final clash with Kangaroo Flat.
The game looked headed for extra time as the Bulldogs were attacking in the final seconds, but a superb intercept by Dragons' defender Heather Oliver denied Gisborne the opportunity for the tieing goal.

White Hills produced a dominant second half against North Bendigo in their Heathcote District semi.
An upset was on the cards as the plucky North led the hot favourite Demons 22-18 at half-time.
However, the Demons answered the challenge with a brilliant second half, outscoring North 35-16 to notch up a 53-38 win.

Calivil United edged out Newbridge in the Loddon Valley league.
The fast-starting Demons opened an 11-6 lead at quarter-time and were able to maintain a four-to-six goal buffer throughout the remainder of the match before finishing 45-41 victors.
