BENDIGO LEAGUE
STRATHFIELDAYE emerged victorious from a cracking contest against Gisborne at Gardiner Reserve on Saturday to win its first game of the Addy Iso-Season in the Bendigo league.
Coming off a six-point loss at home to Sandhurst in the opening round, the Storm were staring down the barrel of a 0-2 start when they trailed Gisborne by 12 points with just over eight minutes to play.
However, the Storm dug deep and dominated the closing stages of the game, kicking the final four goals at the clubrooms end to win 15.11 (101) to 13.11 (89) in the match of the round in front of a big crowd.
Elsewhere, Golden Square, Sandhurst and Eaglehawk all improved to 2-0 with comfortable victories at home, while South Bendigo posted its first win, defeating Castlemaine by 53 points at Camp Reserve after the Magpies had earlier made a spirited start, kicking the first three goals.
Golden Square's 87-point victory over Kyneton followed its 62-point win over Kangaroo Flat in round one, giving the Bulldogs' percentage an early shot-in-the-arm ahead of a big game against Eaglehawk next week.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT
Lockington-Bamawm United and North Bendigo both flexed their muscle with resounding wins in the Heathcote District league.
The Cats put White Hills to the sword early, racing to a 30-point advantage at quarter-time and holding sway for the rest of the game to win by 64 points as they continue to live up to their pre-season hype having also knocked over Huntly by 62 points in round one.
At Atkins Street, North Bendigo unfurled its premiership flag and then gave a reminder of why its home ground is such a fortress - the Bulldogs haven't been beaten on their turf since 2015 - disposing of Elmore by 54 points.
Heathcote had the better of arch-rival Mount Pleasant by 28 points to improve to 2-0, while Colbinabbin proved too good for Leitchville-Gunbower by 15 points in the closest game of the round.

LODDON VALLEY
Bridgewater kicked off its Loddon Valley league campaign in fine style, comfortably accounting for Marong by 65 points.
The Panthers went into the contest full of confidence after a solid win over Maiden Gully YCW the previous week, but the Mean Machine after a bye in round one dominated from the outset, kicking four goals in the opening 10 minutes en route to a 19.15 (129) to 9.10 (64) win.
The most enthralling of the round two matches was the battle between Calivil United and Maiden Gully YCW.
The lead changed six times in the final quarter, but the Demons had it when it mattered most - the final siren - as they grinded out an 11-point victory at home.
Pyramid Hill and Bears Lagoon-Serpentine both backed up their round one wins with victories again on Saturday.
