FORMER Australian Test and one-day cricket captain Ricky Ponting made the most of a rare opportunity to play some golf with family members yesterday on a trip home to Launceston. Ponting was a "ring-in" for Mowbray's division 2 pennant team that played Prospect in the Northern pennant competition at Country Club Tasmania yesterday. Sources said the accomplished golfer was offered a spot in Mowbray's division 1 side but turned it down for the chance to play alongside his father Graeme and younger brother Drew in division 2. To round out the family affair, sister Renee Dwyer took on the role of caddie for her brother Ricky. Scratch marker Ricky, with a 1-up victory and Drew, with an easy 6 and 5 win, helped Mowbray to victory, while dad Graeme suffered a rare defeat.
