Ahead of the event, Ablett said he is excited to visit after hearing former teammate and Bendigo product Joel Selwood speak highly of the region.
"I actually had a coffee with Joel Selwood (recently), and of course 'Sel' has always spoken so highly of Bendigo and the local community given how passionate they are about their footy," Ablett said.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting all the Bendigo locals on Friday night. Melinda Keighran from La Trobe University has done a wonderful job organising the event, and I am sure there'll be some untold stories about Joel I'll be able to share on the night."
Ablett said he was thankful to have played alongside Selwood and that sharing their milestone games together in 2020 had been special.
"I was recently asked who my favourite teammate of all time is, and while I could never pick just one, I will look back on my footy career and be thankful that I had the opportunity to play alongside Joel," Ablett said.
"Last year we both had the opportunity to share in each other's milestone games, when Joel played in his 300th game and I played in my 350th.
"While the guard of honour at the end of the game was a little surreal given it was one of the first matches last year where fans were not allowed in the ground because of COVID-19 restrictions, to be able to have that moment with Joel was very special.
"While Joel has won three premierships, nothing would make me happier seeing him become a premiership captain, so I hope the club can go all the way this year for him."
The newly-retired Ablett will speak at Bendigo's La Trobe University campus on Friday, March 19, from 6.30pm. The event is a partnership between Exclusive Insights and La Trobe University.
Exclusive Insights is a media entertainment company that works with athletes to help tell their stories.
"Because of his heavy AFL schedule in previous years, he was never able to get some of these areas," Mr Tobin said. "Bendigo is a terrific area and hopefully the planets align for us."
