THREE former Bendigo Pioneers, including two who have been on VFL lists, are joining Eaglehawk for the 2021 Bendigo league season.
The trio of Noah Wheeler, Lewin Davis and Kobe Lloyd are all headed to Canterbury Park.
Davis joins the Hawks having been on North Melbourne's VFL list and with Port Adelaide in the SANFL since his final year with the Pioneers in 2017 when he was the side's leading goalkicker with 20.
"He's a silky player who certainly has a bit about him with his speed and is a really exciting guy to have floating across the half-forward line," Eaglehawk coach Travis Matheson said on Monday.
"We think he will really complement guys like Riley Saunders and Gedd Hommelhoff and add another dimension to what those guys already bring.
"Having come through the Pioneers and been at SANFL and VFL clubs he will be able to share those experiences.
"We have a good nucleus of young guys and being able to bring in guys with that higher level experience is really important to us."
Wheeler won the Pioneers' best and fairest in 2018 before joining the Northern Blues in 2019 and playing six senior VFL games with Carlton's affiliate.
"He wins a lot of his own football. What he may lack in size he certainly makes up for in ticker. His ability to win the footy on the inside, but to also be able to link up is going to be really important for us," Matheson said.
"And we're really excited to have Kobe Lloyd, who has come through the Pioneers as well.
"He was part of the GWS Academy when he was going through the TAC Cup ranks.
"He's a versatile player who could fit in anywhere on the ground for us whether that's through the midfield or rotating forward and back. He will certainly give us some flexibility.
"The three boys are all young and obviously all know each other and some of the boys at the club already, which is really important to make that connection."
Since the Hawks' last game - the 2019 grand final loss to Strathfieldsaye - they have also added former Brisbane Lion Billy Evans, key forward Jack Dye, Jarrod Findlay, Darcy Richards and Matt Filo.
The Hawks have lost Richard Tibbett (Marong) and Ryan Gillingham (Kerang) from this year's list.
