BENDIGO LEAGUE
A TWO-GAME gap between the top five and the rest has already been established after four rounds of the Addy's Iso-Season in the Bendigo league.
Top five sides Golden Square, Sandhurst, Strathfieldsaye, Gisborne and Eaglehawk all recorded round four victories on Saturday.
In what was a lop-sided round, the only game with a margin of less than 50 points was Gisborne's 14.15 (99) to 12.11 (83) triumph over South Bendigo at Gardiner Reserve.
The Bulldogs established a five-goal break early in the game and while the Bloods chipped away at the deficit, they gave the home side too much of a start.
The Bloods now drop to 1-3 having had a tough draw, with three of their games so far against Gisborne, Sandhurst and Eaglehawk.
At Canterbury Park, a seething Eaglehawk hit back from its first loss of the season last week to inflict a 79-point defeat on Kyneton, set up by a scintillating seven-goal to nil first term.
Sandhurst recovered from a sluggish start when it trailed Kangaroo Flat by 21 points during the second quarter to win by 58 points at the QEO.
Golden Square retained top spot with a 69-point win over Castlemaine at Camp Reserve, while Strathfieldsaye won its third game in a row, defeating Maryborough by 51 points.

HEATHCOTE DISTRICT
It was a cracking round in the Heathcote District league, with three of the four matches decided by eight points or less.
North Bendigo's unbeaten streak at Atkins Street dating back to 2015 looked in serious danger when it trailed Heathcote by 10 points with seven minutes remaining.
However, the Bulldogs responded to the Saints' mighty challenge and kicked the last three goals of the game through captain Aarryn Craig, Tyson Findlay and Dylan Klemm to emerge with a hard-fought 17.11 (113) to 15.15 (105) win.
In other games, Huntly lost its second tight game in a row, this time to Colbinabbin by seven points; Leitchville-Gunbower outlasted Mount Pleasant by eight points; while Lockington-Bamawm United's imposing form continued with a 52-point victory over Elmore at home.

Bears Lagoon-Serpentine came crashing back with a thud against Bridgewater in the Loddon Valley league.
The Bears went into Saturday's match-of-the-round with a 3-0 record, but copped a 60-point hiding at home from the Mean Machine, which controlled the game from the outset and never let-up.
Pyramid Hill kept hold of top spot with a 47-point victory over Marong after the Panthers had led by seven points at half-time; Newbridge knocked over Maiden Gully YCW by 21 points; while Mitiamo has dug itself an early-season hole, slipping to 0-3 after falling to Calivil United by 18 points.

NORTH CENTRAL
The thrillers continued in the North Central league, with a game decided by less than a kick for the third round in a row.
After suffering a one-point defeat last week, this time Sea Lake Nandaly won a thriller as a late stoppage goal to midfielder Trent Donnan gave the Tigers a four-point victory over Donald.
Charlton moved back into the top four with a 13-point win over St Arnaud, while pace-setters Wedderburn and Wycheproof-Narraport both remained unbeaten, setting the stage for an eagerly-anticipated showdown between the two next week.
The Demons, though, were made to work hard for their win against Boort after trailing by 17 points midway through the third term.

So close, yet so far - that's the tale for Maldon so far in the Maryborough-Castlemaine District league.
For the second time in their four games the winless Bombers lost by a kick, this time going down to Talbot by one point.
That was one of two matches decided by under a goal, with Avoca staving off a last-quarter surge by Royal Park to hold on by three points.
