Stephen Stingel and the remaining Bendigo cricketing tourists who have been stranded in capital city Lima.

The group will leave sometime Wednesday, local time.

"They have not provided flight departure times as they could vary depending on unforseen delays and various permissions," Mr Stingel said.

They were unable to raise more than $5000 in time for the first flight out of Lima last week.

Mr Stingell will pay $2550 for his flight, with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade encouraging more than 400 Australians in South America to consider seeing support from friends and family.

"The anticipation had been building over the past few days knowing that return flights were finally being arranged, especially when DFAT announced they were accelerating their plans," he said.

"We were all eagerly awaiting each update and email from DFAT, and then the final call ... to confirm our pickup time."

Two flights to Melbourne have been planned to get Australians out of South America.

"Finding out we'll be on the first flight was a bit of a surprise, but it's been good to finally have certainty about our status here and that we're finally returning to Australia," Mr Stingel said.

His flight could arrive in Melbourne by 2am on Friday morning, depending on departure times.
