FREE POETRY CONCERT
Bendigo and Goldfields Bush Poets present an afternoon of great Australian entertainment.
Lunch will be available on the day from noon.
Come along and enjoy the afternoon with the poets, music and a yarn or two.
Walk up bush poets and musicians are most welcome in a most supportive venue.

AN AFTERNOON AT THE PROMS
With a new program set for 2018, this performance salutes the famous BBC Proms Concerts of London’s Royal Albert Hall, performing all the well-known favourites.
Australia’s acclaimed international violinist, Ian Cooper, is joined by opera stars, prima ballerinas, The City of Melbourne Pipe Band and the Blue Danube Orchestra to perform this musical spectacular.
Enjoy pieces from The Sound of Music, The Merry Widow, Carmen and more.

POPPET BENDIGO
Poppet is a spectacular performance that combines aerial dance, interactive animation, projections, shadow puppetry, choirs, music and sound score.
Along with the Bendigo community, artists from ACT Natimuk create visual storytelling on three sides of the Poppet head.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
DROUGHT RELIEF DANCE
Head along to the Spring Gully Hall this Sunday and for a dance to help raise funds for drought relief.
The day will run from 1.30pm - 5pm with music by David Allen with Bitz"N'Pieces dance band.
A plate of afternoon tea to share would be appreciated. All proceeds to support our drought stricken farmers. For more information contact Keith on 5444 2953.

ARCHITECTURE
OPEN HOUSE BENDIGO
Bendigo’s impressive architecture is set to open its doors for public viewing.
Open House Melbourne has partnered with the City of Greater Bendigo to extend to the region for the first Open House Bendigo experience.
The weekend event will see private homes, commercial and civic buildings and buildings of architectural significance open their doors for viewing, allowing locals to see inside the buildings of Bendigo.

OPEN GARDEN DISPLAYS
WEDDERBURN GARDEN EXPO
Wedderburn Community House is hosting a Garden Expo this Sunday.
The day features nine stunning open gardens and an open house.
There will also be a supplied Devonshire tea, entry to the Coach House Gallery and Museum and all the new gardens this year. Phone 5494 3489 to book.

MICA GRANGE
Each spring Mica Grange hosts an open Garden and sculpture exhibition.
This year the property, at Sutton Grange, will be open each weekend from Saturday, October 27 to Sunday November 25, including the Monday and Tuesday of the Melbourne Cup long weekend.
The beautiful gardens and vegetable patches, along with garden sculptures, will be on show.

THE IRIS PLACE
Do you like gardening? Or you’ve been wondering how to grow beautiful irises? Then head along to an iris display.
With over 10 irises that have been hybridised, registered and released, this display is unique and full of colour.
The display also features three new iris’s to share with the world.
Irises in pots are also available.
All welcome, including groups. Free entry.

EXHIBITIONS
TWO DAY WORKSHOP
Whether you are a beginner or experienced, you can transform your ideas into linocuts.
Run by artist Heather Shimmen, you can discover ways in which other mediums, such as drawing and sewing, can be incorporated to make 3D objects.
There will be demonstrations of image transfer, cutting a block and printing.
Tickets are $350, including all materials, morning, afternoon tea.

GROWING UP IN ECHUCA – WHAT KIDS DID FOR FUN
The exhibition “Growing Up in Echuca – What Kids Did for Fun” will open on October 28 and run until the end of February.
The opening day will be a fun fest for children, with free entry, treasure hunts, story time and games from 11am and a sausage sizzle from noon.
The focus of the exhibition is connecting today’s kids to the yesteryears of their parents and grandparents and engaging families with their history.

GOTHIC BEAUTY: VICTORIAN NOTIONS OF LOVE, LOSS AND SPIRITUALITY
Curated by Tansy Curtin and Jessica Bridgfoot (and as a Bendigo Art Gallery exclusive), this exhibition takes a look into early Victorian rituals of mourning, as early as the 1800’s.
The artists featured in the exhibition range from Jane Burton, Bill Henson and Janet Beckhouse just to name a few.
This exhibition draws on works from the gallery's historic collections, as well as loaned pieces and works from contemporary artists.

TRIANGULARISM
Robert Penno of Rob Penno Art currently has his work displayed at a local hotel, showcasing many years of his Euclidean Geometry (180 degrees in a triangle) work.
Whilst Penno works with all mediums and any topic, he specialises in triangularisms.
Most recently, Penno’s art has been accepted into the Convent Gallery in Daylesford.
