The 2017 Spring Mica Grant Open Garden featured more than 60 sculptures and garden art pieces large and small from 18 different sculptors – from a wire horse shielded by a parasol, to other weird and wonderful creations.
There were some delighted, intrigued and outright puzzled looks as hundreds made their way through the Mica Grange gardens.
Host Bede Gibson said he was delighted with the turnout on the opening day, as grey skies failed to result in rain and a steady stream of foot traffic meant the deck was constantly full of onlookers enjoying the surroundings.
But whether the unique array of more than 60 sculptures and artworks took the fancy of visitors, few could dispute the quality of the view of the surrounding countryside as they enjoyed a lunch on the property’s deck.
Mica Grange will be open each weekend this spring until November 26.
The gardens boast a variety of Australian flora, large vegetable garden, orchards, abundant roses and rockeries. An expanded fairy garden village has also been added for this spring, featuring yellow box gum, fairy houses and toadstools.
Groups with bookings can also pass through the gardens during the week.
The sculptures will remain on the gardens throughout, and are available to purchase.
The top piece is valued at $7000.
