VICTORIA’S cycling team for the Junior National Road Championships next month is dominated by Bendigo cyclists.
Seven Bendigo and District Cycling Club riders have been named in a 20-member squad to contest the championships in Bunbury, Western Australia, from September 21-23.
Three of the riders – Blake Agnoletto, Alex Allott and Patrick Eddy – will be part of an eight-rider junior men’s 17 squad.
Christopher Douglas and Harrison Knight have been named in the junior men’s 15 team, while Belinda Bailey and Jasmine Eddy have been named in the junior women’s 15 team.
Their selection comes after each recorded impressive results at the Victorian State Championships and throughout the road season.
That included respective overall wins in the men’s 17 A-grade and women’s 15 A-grade of the Victorian Junior Road Series for siblings Patrick and Jasmine Eddy.
Four of the seven Bendigo riders represented Victoria earlier this year at the Junior Track National Championships in Melbourne.
All returned with medals with after Team Victoria dominated the event.
Patrick Eddy won dual gold in the men’s 17 team pursuit and 50-lap point score.
Sister Jasmine scored silver in the women’s 15 individual pursuit.
Agnoletto won gold in the men’s 17 team pursuit, while Allott gained silver in the men’s 17 sprint.
Three hundred of the country’s most promising young cyclists in the under-15 and 17 categories will compete in Bunbury.
