BENDIGO and District Cycling Club has three of its riders leading their division of the Cycling Australia National Junior Road Series after last weekend’s opening round at Bright.
Patrick Eddy (under-17 men), Jasmine Eddy (under-15 women) and Chris Douglas (under-15 men) lead their divisions following bright performances in the Alpe De Buffalo.
The Eddys won their Victorian Road Series events, while Douglas finished third behind Canberra’s Oscar Chamberlain and Alexander Galea (Southern Cross).
But with only Victorian riders eligible for points in events staged in their home state, Douglas’ third placing was enough to give him the series lead.
Bendigo and District cyclists rode with great success at Bright.
Belinda Bailey finished second behind Jasmine Eddy in the under-15 women’s event.
Harrison Knight won the under-15 men’s B race, while Alex Allott, Darcy McClure-Wallace and Blake Agnoletto filled placings fourth to sixth in the under-17 men’s A event behind Patrick Eddy, with Jackson Hadden in 12th.
Samuel Eddy was runner-up in the under-19 race behind Brunswick Cycling Club’s Luke Plapp, while Olivia Sens was eighth in the under-17 female event.
Hope Harnetty was second in the under-13 female.
The Eddys’ victories follow success at the 2018 Junior Track National Championships in Melbourne in February.
Patrick scored double gold in under-17 men’s 50-lap point score and men’s team pursuit, while Jasmine secured silver in the under-15 women’s individual pursuit.
