Immersive science

Celebrate Science Week by taking a tour of the “Invisible Universe”.

With a SciVR headset provided, all attendees will be taken out of this world to experience something new in this free event.

Explore the universe through the use of virtual reality technology and make new discoveries.

Discover how Australian scientists are leading the way with knowledge about the universe through space-time and their views of the microscopic world.

Bendigo Orchestra Festival

Orchestra Victoria – now in its fifth decade – delivers about 200 performances each year and is one of Australia’s two specialist pit orchestras.

Returning for the fourth annual Bendigo Festival, the orchestra will present chamber music concerts across the region.

The festival features aspiring musicians, who will perform alongside orchestra members in the On the mOVe! Education Program.

A free concert will also be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, Myers Street, Bendigo at 2pm on Monday, August 13: “If Music be the Food of Love: Mozart meets Mendelssohn”.

Pop Up Book Fair



The Maldon Market is offering something different for August –  a market within a market. 

At the front entrance of the Maldon Museum there will be four stalls offering a diverse range of second hand books. 

As always, the market will also feature live music, pony rides, a community run BBQ, great coffee and food for breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Vietnam Veterans Day

Join Vietnam Veterans for a nostalgic journey with a special screening of "The Odd Angry Shot" at the Star Cinema. 

Screening on Vietnam Remembrance Day Eve, the film will look into the complexities of war but in a light hearted manner. 

The bar at the cinema opens at 6pm with the movie commencing at 7pm. Finger foods will be provided. 

Tickets are $16 adults, concession $14, seniors and children $11. Phone 5446 2025 to book. 

For Vietnam Remembrance Day on Saturday, August 18, there is a march for veterans at 10.45am down Pall Mall with a memorial service at the Soldiers Memorial forecourt at 11am.

When: Friday, August 17, opens 6pm, film starts at 7pm.

We all know life can be stressful and sometimes we don't know how we can help ourselves.

At the WellFest Wellbeing Festival, you can experience seminars, workshops and speak with more than 50 exhibitors to help your mind, body and soul.

Open to all ages and genders, the festival is perfect for personal development, various wellbeing activities and experiences. The event has free entry along with a free showbag for the first 1000 attendees, so don't miss out. 

The festival includes exhibitors from fields such as, lifestyle, mental health, dance, supplements, accounting, business coaching and much more.

Stroller Tour

Finding it hard to get out and about as a new parent/carer? Maybe you feel a pram takes up too much room, or your toddler makes too much noise in quiet areas.

Enjoy a private tour with a gallery educator at the Bendigo Art Gallery. The tour will feature a group of artworks which will create discussion around the meaning of art and the lives of the artists. 

The tour will end in the cafe, where you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with like minded people.

Swap meet and open meet

The Bendigo BMX Club has a weekend packed full of riding fun.

On Saturday, head along to the club for a swap meet. Buy new and used parts and get involved in the sport. 

On Sunday, the club is hosting their GoldRush Open event. More than 200 riders from all over the Victorian region will ride on the newly upgraded Bendigo track. 

With spectators welcome, this event is perfect for any pro BMX rider or someone looking to start a new hobby. 

Entry is free to both events.
