Now in its third year, the festival brings some of the world’s finest musicians to Bendigo for performances in venues such as the art gallery, library and even iconic Bendigo landmarks.
“We are trying to get music happening in a whole lot of places and spaces in Bendigo,” Orchestra Victoria artistic director Nicolette Fraillon said.
“Bendigo is a treasure trove of incredible buildings, I never get sick of walking into them. It is the perfect festival town.
“We already have eight more venues that we want to get play in next time around.”
This year’s festival kicks off on Monday night at Eaglehawk’s Star Cinema with brass and percussion sections performing famous film scores ahead of a screening of band-based comedy Brassed Off.
Other venues on the list for this year’s festival include Bendigo Art Gallery, Bendigo Library, the Central Deborah Goldmine, St Paul’s Cathedral and Bendigo TAFE.
Out of town shows will also be held in Elmore on July 18 and Heathcote on July 20.
Orchestra Victoria’s Bendigo Festival is on from July 17 to 22. Visit www.australianballet.com.au/music/orchestra-victoria for more.
