Last week, Labor leader Anthony Albanese released his party's emissions policy just weeks after the COP26 summit and months out from a federal election.
Key promises in the policy include reducing Australia's emissions by 43 per cent on 2005 levels by 2030, working towards net zero emissions by 2050 and creation of 604,000 jobs, with five out of six new jobs to be created in the regions.
"We know for the past 20 years, climate change policy has really dominated politics," Ms Chesters said.
"In our part of the world, the regions however are really for real action against climate change.
"In every election, I am approached by local environmental and activist groups saying what's our policy.
"Labor's policy has been about finding the right balance to bringing the states together, bring industry and business together and working out what type of leadership role the federal government can play."
The policy will see up to $3 billion allocated from Labor's National Reconstruction Fund to invest in green metals (steel, alumina and aluminium), clean energy component manufacturing, hydrogen electrolysers and fuel switching, agricultural methane reduction and waste reduction.
This policy is great for Bendigo, it's great for generating jobs, it's great for generating cleaner greener energy and it's great for lowering our energy bills.

"This is something our Bendigo manufacturers has been talking to me about since before I was elected," Ms Chesters said.
"This is something that has been talked about for decades."
Another key part of the region that Ms Chesters said will help the region was the commitment to community batteries.
"We have parts of region like Maldon that already have 50 per cent with solar panels and Powercor has said no more," she said.
"The grid can't handle anymore solar, the community battery will see the solar energy feed-in battery before entering the grid.
More news:
"That idea will means we can get more homes and businesses with solar."
Under the policy, Labor will upgrade the electricity grid to fix energy transmission and drive down power prices.
Part of the upgrade will see 85 solar banks around Australia to ensure more households can benefit from rooftop solar and another 400 community batteries across the country.
"This policy that we have announced is great for Bendigo, it's great for generating jobs, it's great for generating cleaner greener energy and it's great for lowering our energy bills."
