BENDIGO golfer Lucas Herbert's campaign at the British Open ended at the halfway mark of the major after he missed the cut.
Herbert followed up his even par first round - which came after he was caught up in traffic chaos and needed a police escort to make it to the course on time - with a three-over second round to miss the cut by three shots.
Being played at the Royal St George's Golf Club in south east England, Herbert's second round of 70, which teed off late Friday night Australian time, featured 13 pars, one birdie on the par five 14th hole, and four bogeys.
This year was Herbert's second time competing at the British Open having previously finished 51st in his debut in 2018.
The 25-year-old headed into the tournament having just cracked the top 50 in the world rankings (No.49) after winning the Irish Open two weeks ago before following up with a fourth-place finish at the Scottish Open last week.
The British Open leader after two rounds is Louis Oosthuizen at 11-under, two shots clear of Collin Morikawa.
