The Calder United star has been playing for around five years and it's safe to say she has found her niche as a goalkeeper.
"I first started playing just for fun and occasionally I would go into the goals but I wasn't serious about it," Monro said.
"Eventually I started to have more fun in goals and really grew to love it.
"I like that it's a challenge and I can dive around, use my hands as well as my feet.
"It's such an entertaining position as you get to watch the game too."
Monro's passion for the game has taken her to the next level as she's been selected as goalkeeper for School Sport Victoria's under-12 girls team that will represent the state later this year.
Monro credited her recent experience at Calder United with the club's WNPL junior girls team as key to her development as a keeper.
She has been working with elite goalkeeping coach Sebastien Bechaud.
"Marlah really deserves this selection," Bechaud said.
"She's been working hard, but the fact she is so passionate about the game makes her easy to coach.
"She loves learning and enjoys the game."
"Goalkeeping isn't always the best position for everyone as there's plenty of responsibility and you need to work hard but she shows a natural talent."
Monro has enjoyed working with Bechaud and has seen major improvement across multiple areas of her game since starting at Calder United.
"He's helped me get so much better than what I was before I started training," she said.
Monro now has her sights set firmly on the future.
She is more than determined to take her game to the highest possible level.
"I used to want to be a paleontologist when I grew up and find dinosaurs and stuff," she said.
"But soccer has changed that idea and I now really want to become a Matilda and be the next Lydia Williams."
