Buda was the creation of Hungarian jeweller Ernest Leviny who arrived in the Castlemaine region during the gold rush.
The single-storey 1860s house is a Italianate villa surrounded by three acres of mature dry climate gardens which are open to the public daily.
Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards celebrated the end of the works which were funded by the state government's Living Heritage Program.
"We're so proud of our Living Heritage program, providing much needed grants to projects that address risks to historically important places all across Victoria," Ms Edwards said.
"Buda House and Gardens are a wonderful reminder of our local Castlemaine history.
"Conserving the house at Buda ensures it can be enjoyed by current and future generations."

Prior to the works, the house was in a poor condition, with deteriorated render of the facade as well as damaged plaster and timber joinery.
Works included render and plaster repairs, timber and joinery repairs, re-pointing brickworks and repainting repaired areas, as well as roof plumbing and rainwater goods repairs and installation and associated carpentry, and installation of a retaining wall around the toilet block located in the garden.
The Living Heritage program enabled the conservation works to safeguard the historic fabric and ensure ongoing public access.
Buda Historic Home and Garden Inc contributed an additional $2,655 to the project, with in-kind contributions and donations from contractors and consultants at a total of $11,315.
