The Bendigo Agricultural Show Society will use state government funding to develop and update the Prince of Wales Showgrounds amenities in a bid to attract visitors to the region.

Bendigo MPs Maree Edwards and Jacinta Allan announced $680,000 for the first stage of the showgrounds master plan this week.
Bendigo Agricultural Show Society chief executive Ian Furze welcomed the announcement and said the money was greatly appreciated.

"The funds will be going towards providing us with air-conditioning in our exhibition spaces and that will help us provide services in all types of weather and attract events all year round," he said.
"We are also looking at upgrading the toilet facilities and including some additional disabled and parent facilities as part of the upgrade."
Mr Furze hoped the first stage would be completed by June 2022.
"It's important that we are able to make some improvements and it's expected to see the first stage completed by mid-next year," he said.
"It is also important to keep up with the times with these sorts of things. Community and event expectation has changed over the years so we need to adapt and these upgrades will allow us to do so."

The money is part of the state government's regional infrastructure fund - stimulus round.
The fund is part of the state government's $156 million regional jobs and infrastructure fund, which aims to help businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria.
The second round of the 2020-21 program is due to open for applications from June 16.
