Kangaroo Flat Uniting Church broken into twice in 24 hours

A parishioner said thieves first entered the Kangaroo Flat Uniting Church - and attached outreach service - overnight between the evening of Friday April 16 and the morning of Saturday April 17.

Manager of outreach service Uniting Max Blume said they took a nearly new Dyson vacuum cleaner, a $10 note, and smashed in two office doors.

A worker noticed the damage on Saturday morning, reporting it to Mr Blume, who called police.

But it appears the thieves weren't finished. A worker popping in on Saturday evening noticed new damage, this time to Mr Blume's office door. He said they must have come back after he and the police left.

Mr Blume said it was upsetting to have someone break into the church's space, especially as Uniting volunteers worked hard to look after clients who needed help with food and bills.

He said the missing vacuum cleaner and $10 were all they had noticed so far, but other items might have been taken.

"It's just a shame. It's the cleaning up and fixing up the doors and everything afterwards," Mr Blume said.

"It's not nice to feel that somebody's intruded into where you've been.

"It's just disappointing that people would come in and rob a church."
