Almost 50 years later, the message of unity has shone through again as the world battles the coronavirus pandemic.
A lockdown concert in 2020 began the Keep the Circle Unbroken tour and has since evolved into a live regional tour.
More news:
It arrives in Bendigo on Thursday night. Bendigo musician Shann Lions will be among the performers joining the band for the concert. He will also share the stage with Mick Thomas, Kee'ahn, Dan Hall, Shann Lions, Joyce Prescher and Jamie McDowell.
The Row Jerry Crow band will provide backing for the performers to create a camp fire-type performance. The Row Jerry Crow band is made up of Paul Woseen (Screaming Jets), Jeff Consi (The Badloves), Dion Hirini (Vika & Linda Bull), Rob Hornbuckle (The Masters Apprentices), John Kendall (Uncle Bill) and Delsinki.
The Keep the Circle Unbroken tour is inspired by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 1972 album Will the Circle Be Unbroken. The album collaborated with country music legends and had a strong message of unity during the Vietnam War.
"In a world that seems to be at each other's throats every other second, and not listening to each other, we wanted to create a musical message that would inspire everybody to stop and reflect on what is important in life," fiddle player John Kendall said.
"Putting our heads together we thought we'd get our eclectic bunch of mates all together in one room and show the connection artistry that comes from music. We got an incredible response."
Keep the Circle Unbroken is at the Old Church On The Hill on Thursday, March 25, at 6pm and 8pm. for tickets visit https://www.trybooking.com/BOIOR
