But that only lasted 30 seconds.
Brooke and her fiance Rob began a frantic dash to tie the knot with calls to their celebrant, and loved ones.
More news:
Melbourne-based friends immediately knocked off work and hit the highway.
"It all turned out perfectly. Everyone was available except for one guest," Mrs Binks said.
They held the ceremony at Sandy Creek Park Weddings before a reception at the Marong Family Hotel.
And the best part of all of it was that Mr and Mrs Binks were able to tell the most special people in their lives that they were expecting a baby.
Brooke is 14 weeks pregnant.
Her wedding story is even more memorable than the couple's engagement story, which is certainly saying something.
"Rob proposed in Central Park, New York in 2019. It was very romantic and I wasn't expecting it," Mrs Binks said.
The latest lockdown is not the first to cause wedding havoc for the Binks.
They would have married last November if not for another lockdown.
"That's pretty much why we weren't taking 'no' for an answer this year," Mrs Binks said.
Everyone who plans a wedding learns something about themselves along the way.
In Mrs Binks case, it was the blessing of being organised.
"That's my biggest tip to people," she said.
After all, you never can tell when a highly infectious virus might escape a quarantine site and trigger sweeping lockdowns of 6.3 million Victorians.
"I am a very organised person, thankfully," Mrs Binks said.
The couple are spending their first days of wedded bliss at home.
The Binks are not the only quick-thinking pair to avoid a wedding day shutdown.
Golden Square's Foundry Hotel pulled together a function space with two hours notice for a couple who also needed to get married in a hurry.
"Kudos to Amy & Nicholas on making the most of trying times & moving the wedding forward a day! Loved being a part of it!" the business said in a Facebook post on Friday.
