POLICE have confirmed they are treating the fire as suspicious.

POLICE are yet to determine the cause of the fire that tore through a vacant Harcourt Street building yesterday.
An arson chemist is expected to attend this scene later today.
The fire caused extensive damage to parts of the building, which has sat idle since former occupants at Radius Disability Services went into administration in 2016.

Detectives have attended the scene of a fire that erupted in Kennington yesterday.
The police officers visited the site this morning as they looked into the causes of the fire.
It is not yet clear whether police are treating the fire as suspicious.

Friday, 6.30pm
The fire has been brought under control, and authorities have issued an Advice message for nearby residents.
"Smoke will be visible from nearby roads and communities," Fire Rescue Victoria said. "There is currently no threat to the community, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions."
What you should do:
- Keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.
- If you are sensitive to smoke or you live with someone who is sensitive to smoke you should close windows and doors. Turn off heating and cooling systems.
- To prevent the smell of smoke entering your home or business you should close windows and doors.
Traffic in the area is block, and emergency services remain on scene.
Earlier
Emergency services crews have been called to the site of a former Radius Disability Services building in Kennington.
At about 5.30pm on Friday afternoon, crews were called to 13 Harcourt Street, Kennington, near the Ewing Park sporting oval, to find the disused building in flames.
The fire has not impacted the United Cricket Club and poses no immediate threat to nearby properties.
Nearby Williamson Street has been closed to traffic.
