Costly inquiry achieved nothing
It's hard to believe the state government spent more money representing itself at the hotel quarantine inquiry than on the inquiry itself.

The government has finally admitted it spent at least $7.7 million in legal fees to protect itself as compared to $5.7 million on the inquiry itself with carefully drawn terms of reference designed to deflect attention from the key decision makers.
More news
I must admit government ministers and staff were beautifully coached by their army of legal advisers. No one could remember any of the finer details of the fiasco and no one was prepared to own up for anything. A perfect result for the government.
But it's an utter abuse of due process, with total lack of accountability and blatant disrespect for the Victorian community and their finances, and no mention of the 800 deaths along the way.

Forests need attention
Rubbish has been dumped in the One Tree Hill Forest in several different sites.
Council were notified five months ago and they have been and tied a pink ribbon on trees nearby and that's as far as a clean up got - there are several areas the same.
There is also a pipe with asbestos in it with a sign in front saying it is dangerous and keep away. The same thing is going on in all forests around Bendigo.
Surely it's not about COVID as safe distancing cannot be the problem.
Also dogs are under the rule of must be on a lead at all times and it is never monitored, they run free and at times chase wildlife.
Surely our forests are worthy of getting some staff to clean up the rubbish and surely the DELWP can sometimes actually come into the forest and monitor the rules occasionally. Very disappointing to say the least.

Having a sook
I was talking to friend, and the topic of 'being cancelled' came up. I find that interesting.
It seems that a segment of the community believe that their world view is the only valid one, and if anyone makes a statement that conflicts with that, you 'cancel' them.
It's like shutting your eyes and putting your fingers in your ears. Or going and hiding in your room. It is the digital version of 'having a sook'.
"Seems a bit immature?" said my friend. I just shrugged.

Kennington Res suggestion
If Bendigo Council is looking for a way to increase the amenities that the city offers, I have a suggestion.
Would it be possible for engineers to examine the Kennington Res with the ultimate aim of flooding the whole zone up to Cousins Street, turning it into a major recreation area and world class nature reserve.
