VICTORIA'S newest COVID-19 infection was detected in a woman aged in her 40s, Victoria's chief health officer Brett Sutton said.
The woman has recently returned from travel overseas and is in hotel quarantine.
Dr Sutton said that another case once suspected to be positive for COVID-19 has been declared a negative overnight, following an expert panel review.
"The review followed one case where a low positive result was returned following a coronavirus test. Following review of clinical, epidemiological and testing evidence, this case was rejected and deemed negative," he said.
