A Victoria Police road operation to deter dangerous driving and reduce road trauma has impounded the vehicles of two central Victorians for dangerous speed offences.

A 60-year-old man was caught by Goornong Police travelling at the alleged speed of 175 kilometres per hour in a 100km/h zone, with the vehicle impounded and the driver charged with dangerous speed offences.
A 42-year-old female was caught by police at the alleged speed of 149km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Her vehicle was impounded and she was summonsed to appear at court at a later date for her offending.
Operation Roadwise commenced on December 18 and concludes on January 6, 2021.
Using an intelligence-based approach, police will target busy periods, locations and major arterials where law-breaking drivers are expected to be.
During the 2019 Operation Roadwise, 17 people lost their lives due to road trauma.
According to the Transport Accident Commission, 207 people have lost their lives on Victoria's roads in 2020.
