Employed as an Information Technology Officer by CHIRP Community Health, Ms Subramani has traded skyscrapers and tram sounds for birds chirping and dogs barking.
"The biggest thing I noticed about working here is people work so hard to serve the community and people give back so much to the community," she said.
Ms Subramani completed a Bachelor of Computer Science before coming to Australia and thanked her parents for the opportunity to study and work, something which is not afforded to all women in India.
"For most girls, when they finish their education they get married and start to live their personal life," Ms Subramani said.
"My parents gave me the support to study overseas and live my own life and that's the reason I am here in Castlemaine today."
