Mexican food chain Guzman y Gomez has confirmed it is reopening in Bendigo, likely before the end of the year.
The Kennington restaurant closed its doors last September, a year and a half after it opened as as the first Guzman y Gomez outlet in regional Victoria.
The new restaurant will be located in the same building.
"I'm genuinely so excited about re-opening of our GYG drive-through in Bendigo," the company's chief executive officer and founder Steven Marks said.
"The restaurant was previously a franchised restaurant but I believe so strongly in this area so we are reopening the restaurant as a corporate-owned restaurant."
Mr Marks said Victoria was the company's fastest-growing area in Australia, and its number one restaurant was in the state.
Guzman y Gomez planned to reopen in early December, he said, with a manager already hired and in training.
Mr Marks said the restaurant would hire a total of 40 people.
It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The previous franchisee behind the Kennington store launched legal action against the company in late 2018, alleging losses arising from unconscionable conduct, misleading representations and a poorly-designed drive-through - allegations the company denied.
The parties settled the matter last year.
The company said the decision to close the restaurant last September was not influenced by this court case.
