BENDIGO is set to get yet another drive-through fast food option.
Mexican chain Guzman Y Gomez has announced it will open a standalone drive-through store in Kennington, expected to be complete by the end of this year.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed the restaurant will be a part of the Kennington Village complex and is expected to have an entrance off Condon Street.
It will be one of 38 to be opened nationwide in the coming 18 months.
The restaurant is already a common feature in Melbourne.
Bendigo will have the only Guzman Y Gomez based in regional Victoria.
The owner of Kennington Village last year submitted plans with the City of Greater Bendigo for a $2.3 million expansion, to include a medical centre, pharmacy and additional retail space on its eastern edge.
Plans were earlier submitted to develop the land on the edge of Condon Street for retail space – where the Mexican drive-through is likely to be located.
Last year, a KFC and McDonald’s opened up on Eaglehawk Road in the space of several weeks, and just a kilometre apart.
Bendigo has five McDonald’s, five KFCs, six Subways, two Hungry Jacks, two Dominos, three Donut Kings, two Wendy’s, a Nando’s and a Red Rooster.
