Former member of parliament Anna Burke has been named patron of Hepburn Swiss Italian Festa.
Ms Burke can chart her family tree back to the Adami and Rolleri families who arrived in Australia to find their fortune on the Victorian goldfields.
More news:
Striking gold, the Rolleris purchased Parma House and a regional hotel. The Adamis established vineyards, bringing a touch of their previous life to their new homeland.
"We are very grateful that Anna has accepted our request to be our patron and look forward to working with her throughout the coming year," event organisers said
The festa celebrates the area's history, showcases the region's culture and helps boost a tourist economy hit by current travel restrictions.
The event's organising committee is promising a fantastic festa next October 2021, including traditional and artisanal food, wine, parades, performances, art shows, heritage tours, bocce tournaments and fireworks.
The committee is also launching a new website featuring artist Lliam Amor's works.
