The Bendigo Writers Festival is expanding its successful online book events with the creation of an interactive monthly bookclub.
Bendigo Bookclub will invite readers to listen to a conversation with an author about a recent publication, with live chat available throughout the session.
Bendigo Writers Festival director Rosemary Sorensen said the coronavirus pandemic has allowed the festival to expand its online reach.
"Our pre-recorded Backstory interviews have been watched by thousands of people," Ms Sorensen said.
"That has given us the confidence to move into real time live streaming, so people can watch, comment and ask questions."
The inaugural Bendigo Bookclub live stream is on Wednesday, October 7.
The event will feature novelist Kate Mildenhall, joined by Bendigo book expert Sarah Mayor Cox to talk about The Mother Fault.
In November, Craig Silvey will be the bookclub guest, to talk about his highly anticipated new novel, Honeybee.
