GISBORNE v KANGAROO FLAT
The Bulldogs remained a game clear at the top of the ladder following their 19.18 (132) to 15.5 (95) victory over the Roos at Gardiner Reserve.
While they were beaten, the Roos produced the most competitive performance of any visiting team to Gardiner Reserve in the first 15 rounds of the season.
Of the eight teams who had travelled to Gardiner Reserve before round 15, the Roos were the first to keep their losing margin to less than 10 goals.
The standout player on the ground was Gisborne forward Darren Farrugia, who booted eight goals to take his season tally to 55.
Midfielder Scott Walsh (two goals) also continued his stellar season and received plenty of strong support from impressive youngster Lachlan Crosbie (two goals) and captain Casey Summerfield.
Kangaroo Flat's main avenues to goal were captain Tyson Mihocek (five) and Tyrone Downie (three).
The Walklate brothers - Ben and Aaron - were the best for the Roos, while other good players included Jack Bowyer, Nick Lang and Mitch Hough.

EAGLEHAWK v SANDHURST
Sandhurst had to unleash a blistering eight-goal last quarter to down a hard-running and competitive Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park.
With scores tied up at 76 points apiece by the last change the stage was set for a gripping final term.
But it was the Dragons who stepped up a notch. Blair Holmes, Codie Price and Nick Stagg kept the ball inside their forward 50 arc for extended periods.
Up front Corey Lobb nailed theopening two goals of the quarter.
Big spearhead Ricky Symes steered through two more from set shots to take his day's tally to seven.
In the back half Jack Kennedy shut down Eaglehawk danger man Matt Gretgrix, while Pat Jennings and Jake Wilkinson hardly made a mistake all afternoon.
Eaglehawk coach Luke Monaghan said allowing the Dragons to play on their terms - free running and using the open spaces with their pace and skill - was the difference.
"We were disappointed when they kicked three goals early in the third quarter to get rid of our half-time lead," Monaghan said.
"That was probably more damaging than the last quarter as we let them back into the game at that stage."

CASTLEMAINE v STRATHFIELDSAYE
A dozen goals by half-forward Lachlan Sharp helped Strathfieldsaye Storm to an emphatic victory at Castlemaine.
In front by just 19 points at half-time, Storm dominated the next hour as it slammed on 20 goals and kept the Magpies to just two.
Sharp and Bartholomew, six goals, capped off Strathfieldsaye's play through the midfield and across the half-back line.
After being kept goalless in the first quarter, Castlemaine hit back to win the next term, 34-30, as it scored four goals in the last five minutes of the half.
The Darryl Wilson-coached Strathfieldsaye marked one of its best quarters of the season as it scored 10.1 to 1.1 in the third term.
Sharp's quick leading, evasiveness and sublime skills thrilled Storm's fans.
Not content with a 73-point lead at three quarter-time, Storm added 10.3 to 1.5 in the final term.

GOLDEN SQUARE v KYNETON
For the second season in a row, Golden Square forward Grant Weeks feasted on the Kyneton defence.
Weeks kicked a career-high 21 goals as the Bulldogs thrashed Kyneton by 162 points at Wade Street.
Weeks' previous best in the BFNL was 18 in the previous season's home game against the yellow and black. This time around he set a record that will take some beating as 21 is the most kicked in a senior game on the Bulldogs' turf in Wade Street.
Weeks kicked six of Square's seven first-term goals, with Jason Griffin the other goalscorer.
The second half was to become one-way traffic as Square added 18.10 and kept the Tigers to just four points.
Christian Carter marked his 200th senior game for the club by booting three goals.
The fourth quarter was to be Weeks' best as he kicked eight goals in a row.

SOUTH BENDIGO v CASTLEMAINE
South Bendigo recorded a 32-point win over Maryborough in a scrappy encounter at the QEO.
The game - played in a tricky breeze - failed to reach any great heights as the Bloods won 10.14 (74) to 6.6 (42) in what was a stop-start contest played predominantly around the boundary line.
The Bloods were never headed after kicking the first goal of the game through Marcus Varley, although, they couldn't shake the Magpies until the final term.
Having trailed by 17 points at three quarter-time, the Magpies got back within 12 points against the wind in the last term, and had the chance to cut the deficit to a goal, but couldn't capitalise on a goalmouth scrimmage.
However, soon after the missed opportunity, the Magpies copped a 100m penalty, which resulted in a goal to Bloods' captain Brady Childs that saw off the Maryborough challenge.
Centre half-forward Brook Martyn was the Bloods' best player for the second week in a row.
Also playing well were Tom Hams, who provided constant drive from half-back, midfielder Aaron Connaughton and ruckman Rory Alexander. Full-forward Michael Leech kicked four goals.
Co-coach Joel Malone through the middle, Michael Noonan and ruckman Tyson MacIlwain were the Magpies' best players.
The Magpies' cause wasn't helped by losing Kyle Lierich (ankle) and Mitchell Kennedy (hamstring) during the game, while Murray Bond strained a quad late.
