BY his own admission, Tony Marasco is addicted to cricket coaching.
He has been doing it for more than 20 years across the state, with Golden Square his next step.
"I've been coaching for 25 years and I think I'm addicted to it... meeting people, coming up with new ideas, teaching people and trying to build sustainability at clubs are all part of it," Marasco said this week.
"Golden Square is a very prestigious club that has a lot of history behind it and I've known the club from afar through Scott Johnson (Square stalwart).
"My wife and Scott's wife are best friends and this is obviously a great opportunity to get involved and I just want to try and carry on the good work that Grant Connelly (former coach) has done.
"I'm really looking forward to taking on the challenge and there's really good young players like Tom Campbell and Jack Keating coming through who are going to be good to work with."
Golden Square is the second BDCA club Marasco has coached at after he was previously in charge at White Hills in 2018-19 - a season in which the Demons beat Golden Square in the one-day final.
Having finished fifth in the first XI last season, Golden Square's 2020-21 hopes have already been given a massive boost with Marasco confirming Scott Woodman will return as not only a batsman, but also potentially a bowler.
"Woodman is coming back and we're hopeful he may be able to bowl as well. We're introducing him to some bowling programs, so we're very hopeful," said Marasco, who last season coached the Northern Rivers under-21 and North West Wizards under-14 teams.
A gun all-rounder, a back injury curtailed Woodman from bowling for Square in his last season in 2018-19.
Meanwhile, Golden Square held its annual general meeting on Monday night.
Having spent the past two seasons as president Max Grant is stepping down to vice-president, with Ian Kellett returning to the top role.
