A brief but heavy downpour in the mid-afternoon on Saturday saw 7.2 millimetres fall within half an hour.
But little more arrived, with the city recording only 2 millimetres more in the hours to 9am Sunday.
Bendigo and other parts of central Victoria, including Maryborough, were subject to a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall on Saturday, with the Bureau of Meteorology advising that this possible precipitation could lead to dangerous flash-flooding.
A severe thunderstorm warning was also in place for some time.
Nadine Guymer, from Bendigo SES, said the unit only had about eight jobs for the entire day, compared with 26 the day before.
She said these were mostly for fallen trees, and while there were a couple of call-outs for building damage, they were not major jobs.
Maryborough got 9 millimetres of rain, while just 0.1 millimetre was recorded at Echuca.
But some places did see heavier rain - Charlton received 15 millimetres in 15 minutes on Saturday afternoon, with a total of 25.6 millimetres in 24 hours.
The heat of the past few days has been alleviated, thanks to a cool change that crossed the region.
Bendigo can expect a partly cloudy day with a top of 26 degrees on Sunday, while Maryborough and Castlemaine are forecast to reach 24 degrees.
