The Country Fire Authority was called to the blaze on Maple Street, Golden Square, about 11.45am.
Golden Square Pool president Sam Kane said firefighters were able to contain the fire within 30 minutes.
"It was put out quite quickly and efficiently as soon as they gained access to the building," Mr Kane said.
Mr Kane said the fire - which is believed to have started from an electrical fault - was contained to the back of the storage area.
He said there was some damage to the roof of the building, as well as the carpet flooring and shelving.
There was also significant smoke damage to the items stored in the building, Mr Kane said, including food items for the pool's kiosk.
Mr Kane said an insurance assessor would assess the extent of the damage on Monday.
"We're still working out the costs," Mr Kane said. "We just did a full restock of the kiosk on Friday afternoon.
"Most of it was locked in there at the weekend. We also had all of our operational equipment like shelving, tables, and chairs in there. That will all need to be replaced."
Mr Kane said the pool would open at 2pm on Monday, rather than noon, to allow more time for the insurance assessors. The pool will resume normal operating hours from Tuesday.
"The main building is completely out of bounds," he said. "We will run the entrance from the front of the site.
"There will also be no kiosk service until further notice."
Mr Kane said the safety of the community was pool management's main priority.
"We are working extremely hard to ensure that our lifeguards have first aid and safety equipment," he said.
"There is also no issue with the water quality or safety of patrons. We had our pool operator doing assessments and the water quality is fine.
"I want to reiterate, patron's safety is completely fine. There is no risk to anyone coming to the pool."
Mr Kane said he was grateful for the outpouring of community support.
"I really want to thank our volunteers and community members," he said. "We've had dozens of offers of support from all members of the community, which we're really thankful for.
"We're still working through those and we'll need to wait and see what needs to happen.
"But this all shows to me the love that people have for the pool. We keep fighting for this pool and we keep rising above. This will be no different."
