MITIAMO has capped its 130th anniversary season with the double celebration of winning both the Loddon Valley league's senior football and A grade netball premierships on Saturday.
The senior football side overcame an early onslaught from Pyramid Hill to win by 22 points, while the A grade netball team defeated Newbridge 58-51.
On a cold and windy day at Calivil in front of a crowd that paid a gate of $25,000, Mitiamo denied Pyramid Hill its first senior premiership since 1950 with its 11.16 (82) to 9.6 (60) triumph.
There was plenty of relief at the final siren for the Superoos, who had lost three of the past four grand finals and were slow out of the blocks after conceding the first five goals.
Pyramid Hill led by as many as 31 points during the first quarter, but the Superoos gained the momentum approaching half-time and didn't surrender it for the remainder of the game.
Mitiamo co-captain Terry Reeves completed a medal trifecta.
Having already won this year's Harding Medal, the tough on-baller also added both a premiership and grand final best-on-ground medal to cap a stellar 2019.
The win was Mitiamo's first senior flag since 2009.
Meanwhile, in the A grade netball, Mitiamo also recovered from an early deficit.
The Superoos trailed Newbridge by six goals at quarter-time and three at half-time, before having the better of the second half to win their first flag since 2012.
Star Mitiamo goal attack Laura Hicks earned the best on court medal.
