
Police have nabbed an 84-year-old man speeding while overtaking a caravan on the Calder Freeway near Faraday.
Police clocked the Range Rover Discovery travelling at 145 kilometres per hour in a 110 kilometres per hour zone about 10.55am on Saturday.
The officers intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver from Mildura.
He has received a $537 fine for speeding and his licence has been suspended.
The intercept was part of Operation Argus, which focuses on impaired driving, motorcycles, excessive speed, driver distraction and drivers not wearing seatbelts.
The state-wide operation started on Thursday and will run through to Sunday night.
