The Saints have lured two-time Sandhurst A-grade premiership star Brooke Bolton to Barrack Reserve, giving them an inter-league class midcourter to go alongside their coach Lorrae Closter, who has re-signed for a third season as coach.
Bolton, a key player for the Dragons in their 2017-18 premiership wins, did not play this season, but will continue her exceptional career in 2020 in the Heathcote District league.
She will join a Heathcote team, which made some good strides in Closter's second season at the helm, with improvements in play and fitness across all grades.
While the Saints won only two games - the same as in 2018 - their improvement could be better gauged by the reduced margins in most of their defeats
Club President Rebecca Dickinson said the club was thrilled with the signings of Bolton and Closter.
"Having Lorrae commit to another year with the club gives us a tremendous boost moving in to the off-season and we will be busy in the off-season with recruiting," she said.
"Brooke's signing is a great way to start our recruiting.
"Her class and fitness will our A-grade mid-court some real power"
An inter-league representative during her career with Sandhurst and a Dragons A-grade best and fairest winner in 2014, Bolton was adjudged best on court in the BFNL's 2017 triumph over the Ballarat league.
The star midcourter and her new coach were on rivals team in the BFNL in 2017, during Closter's lone season with South Bendigo, after joining the Bloods from Central Highlands league club Beaufort.
Closter was the Bloods' 2017 best and fairest winner, and also won the top honour with Heathcote last season.
