The region shivered through the frostiest day of winter so far, but was not the coldest this year.
The mercury plummeted to 0.9 degrees in Bendigo at 11pm last night and rose to 2.2 degrees by 7.30am, though it felt like -1.2 degrees, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
The temperature fell to 0.2 in Redesdale, though it felt like -3.1 degrees.
Still, it got to a teeth rattling 0.4 degrees in Bendigo on Thursday 30 May.
You can expect more chilly mornings for the rest of the week, with the Bureau predicting lows of one degree and morning frost every day except a partly cloudy Friday.
Tuesday, 3.25pm
Rug up - the Bureau of Meteorology is expecting tonight and tomorrow morning to be chilly.
Frosts with temperatures down to -1 degrees are predicted in parts of several forecast districts.
Districts likely to be affected include the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East and East Gippsland.
A warning has been issued to sheep graziers in the Wimmera, North Central, Central and South West districts.
The bureau has advised of a risk of losing lamb and sheep exposed to the cold, windy and wet conditions in their parts for the remainder of today.
Bendigo is today predicted to reach a top temperature of 12 degrees.
The bureau believes there's a high chance of showers, with possible hail this afternoon.
Light morning frost is forecast for tomorrow, with a minimum temperature of 2 degrees. The bureau is warning of a chance of fog in the early morning, along with patchy light morning frost. The day is expected to warm to 12 degrees.
Snow is a possibility above 900 metres tomorrow in the North Central forecast district, which encompasses Castlemaine and Maryborough.
Light morning frost is predicted in both Castlemaine and Maryborough. Be prepared for a chance of fog in the early morning and light winds throughout the day.
Castlemaine is expected to reach a low of one degree, while two degrees is the forecast low for Maryborough. A top of 11 degrees is predicted for both communities.

The bureau doesn't expect temperatures in Kyneton, in the central district, to crack double figures tomorrow.
It'll be partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from one to nine degrees.
Snow is predicted in the central district above 800 metres.
