THE Bendigo Football-Netball League could have as many as seven players in the Victoria Country team to play the Victorian Amateurs next month.
Bendigo's 99-point demolition of Outer East in their AFL Victoria Community Championships match has been recognised with the selections of Jack Geary (Golden Square), Nathan Horbury (South Bendigo), Adam Baird (Golden Square), Andrew Collins (Sandhurst), Jake Thrum (Golden Square), Jack Scanlon (Gisborne) and Pat McKenna (Gisborne) in the training squad.
Collins has earned his place in the squad despite missing the inter-league game with a calf injury.
Collins, Baird and Geary were all members of the Vic Country team that defeated Vic Metro last year.
Thrum earned the Derrick Filo Medal as best-on-ground for Bendigo in its victory over Outer East at the QEO last month.
The seven Bendigo players are among a training squad of 58 for Vic Country ahead of the game at Carlton's IKON Park on July 13.
