BENDIGO company e+ Architecture has been appointed to redesign the town's train station ahead of $15.8 million upgrades there and at Eaglehawk.
The works will see Bendigo's station get a redesigned waiting area, as well as toilet facilities including a full-sized change table and hoists to improve access for people with disabilities.
Toilet facilities at the station will undergo a major upgrade, including a new changing places facility with Ticket counters will also be modified, making it easier for people using mobility aids to purchase a ticket.
This comes on top of the recently opened new pedestrian bridge, which makes it easier for all passengers to transfer between platforms and connect with local buses and taxis.
Upgrades to Eaglehawk Station are currently underway, with works to extend the platform allowing longer trains to stop at the station completed, and construction on a new 60-space car park with taxi and drop off areas to be completed by the end of the year.
The Bendigo Station building, is expected to be completed in 2020.
