The Bendigo Magistrates' Court heard a police officer saw the 18-year-old Heathcote man riding on the Northern Highway on the afternoon of October 14 last year and, using a mobile radar, recorded him at an alleged speed of 129 km/h.
The officer switched on their flashing lights, but as the motorcyclist passed the police vehicle he shook his head and accelerated.
The officer caught up with the young man, who had reached an alleged speed of 144 km/h.
More court news:
When asked why he had failed to stop, the motorcyclist said he could not see a safe area to pull over.
But he said there was no reason for his speeding and he was "being silly".
Defence lawyer Peter Baker asked magistrate Sarah Leighfield not exceed the mandatory licence suspension of six months, because of his client's age, his guilty pleas to speeding and failing to stop, and his lack of prior incidents.
Mr Baker also suggested he be put on an adjourned undertaking of good behaviour.
Ms Leighfield told the young man it was "absolutely stupid" driving at such a speed.
She said he needed to understand he was taking his life and other road users' lives into his hands when he went on the roads.
The man's licence was suspended for six months and put on a nine-month adjourned undertaking without conviction.
He was also ordered to undertake a road trauma awareness seminar.
