The Golden Dragon Museum has released pictures of Dai Gum Loong leaving the Shau Kei Wan district of Hong Kong.
"We are getting very excited about his arrival. We can't wait for Bendigo to see him in all of his glory," Anita Jack, the museum's general manager, said.
Dai Gum Loong is expected to go on display at the Golden Dragon Museum later this month.
He will make his Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade debut at the upcoming Bendigo Easter Festival, accompanied by all the city's processional dragons.
A delegation from Bendigo travelled to Hong Kong last month for Dai Gum Loong's blessing at the Fuk Tak Temple complex, which prepared him for the journey.
Delegates included City of Greater Bendigo mayor Margaret O'Rourke and representatives from both the Golden Dragon Museum and the Bendigo Chinese Association.
Dai Gum Loong will be awakened in Bendigo.
