The marathon will commence at 1pm on Saturday with newly-weds Daniel and Stacey Woodrow aiming to play for 24-hours non-stop.
The couple’s plan is to take turns to have rest breaks with at least one of them playing at all times.
A highlight of the marathon will be a feature match between Daniel – who is a former Melbourne Premier Division bowler – and Queensland Premier Division bowler Andrew O’Meagher.
The goal for the event is to raise awareness of the impact of motor neuron disease and pancreatic cancer, with funds raised to be donated to MND Victoria and Pancare Victoria.
The two-day bowls spectacular will include a special event on the Sunday in which bowlers will contribute $20 to use just one bowl to win their way through to a final with a $1000 first prize.
All district residents are invited to watch as top line bowlers feature in special exhibition challenges during the GABM, with all bowlers - as well as non-bowlers – invited to play at $2 per end.
There will be several auctions throughout the marathon.
