Both lanes of Mitchell Street have now reopened.
Earlier:
Mitchell Street remains closed for traffic heading into town after a water main burst on Monday.
Contractors are on site reinstating the ground works around the water main, and working on the road, after restoring operation at about 8.30pm on Monday.
The burst to the 150 millimetre main affected water supplies between Mollison Street and McLaren Street.
Some Coliban Water customers experienced no water service or low water pressure on Monday while the burst section of the pipe was isolated, which restored full service.
Coliban Water has yet to find the cause of the burst, but expect it to be a combination of ground movement and the age of the main, which is about 60 years old.
The burst was reported at 9am on Monday, and crews were onsite by 9.15am.
