The gathering is considered to be the country’s oldest continuous running sports events.
Highland Society sports secretary Nick Weaver said the gathering included a range of athletics and strongman event.
“The event attracts athletes from all over Australia and this year we will have an entrant coming all the way from Zimbabwe,” Weaver said.
“There will be multiple foot races throughout the day and also an impressive display of strongman events.”
Included is the caber toss, where participants throw a large pole in the air and are judged on the angle of the toss rather than distance travelled.
There will be several Bendigo athletes competing at the gathering across various different foot race categories.
Lonain Burnett will compete in the 400m and the 800m Open with sibling Kirrily Burnett participating in the 400m Womens and 1600m Womens/Masters.
Phil Noden will compete in the 800m, 1600m Open and the 1600m Masters.
Jacob Nolan will compete in the 400m and 1600m Open.
Michael Preece will line-up for the 800m Open and Joshua Sait will compete in the 800m and 1600m Open.
