Switch is a state-wide program for women to help them get involved in a sport where they are able to get physically active and socialise.
Tarryn McDowall delivers the Switch Bendigo program and believes it promotes social activity and develops a sense of community among the participants.
“My goal is to get more women confident playing the sport, get them trained up and thirsty to play competitively,” McDowall said.
“I talk to all the participants to find out what their interests are and what they want to get out of the Switch program.
“We’re hoping women who find it hard to join sports teams or go to gyms get involved in the program.”
Switch is an initiative by NRL Touch Football and VicHealth and has an overall aim to improve health and wellbeing of women through sport participation.
The Bendigo program is on Wednesday nights, 5.15pm at Club Court Reserve Strathfieldsaye.
