Children have gathered to learn about Indigenous culture as NAIDOC Week continues.
More than 15 kindergartens, preschools, education, health and family support agencies came together to run cultural activities in Golden Square.
Event coordinator and member of the Yorta Yorta and Gunditjmara Bissette Morgan said it was a chance for Aboringinal, Torres Strait Islander children to learn about culture, the Dream Time, food and language.
“What we also want is for non-indigenous children growing up now to understand is there is a First Nations people who still exist here today,” Ms Morgan said.
The event also saw several young people receive awards, including:
- Adal Zuk, Aboriginal Academic Award - Secondly Level
- Jordan Hynes, Youth Sportsman Award
- Cheyene Macumber, Youth Sportswoman Award
The day was organised by the Bendigo District Aboriginal Cooperative and Communities for Children.
