NAIDOC Week celebrates Aboriginal culture with this year’s theme titled “Our Languages Matter”.
BDAC chief executive Raylene Harradine said it was lovely to see the community getting involved with the week.
“It is about sharing our knowledge and culture. Not just between ourselves but with the non-Aboriginal people. It is about celebrating our country's history,” she said.
“(NAIDOC Week) is helping Bendigo go from strength to strength.
“It started with little things but the atmosphere is changing in Bendigo. The diversity of people living here is a good thing.”
BDAC hosted its NAIDOC dinner and awards night on Friday night and on Wednesday, July 5, will take part in NAIDOC’s children’s day at Golden Square Primary School.
NAIDOC Week runs from July 2 to 9. Visit www.naidoc.org.au for more.
