Deer Park last year denied the Thunder a perfect season in the Victorian Women’s Football League premier division when it beat Bendigo by 13 points in a grand final boilover.
This time they meet in the Northern Football League Women’s competition at Deer Park from 4.45pm on Saturday.
“I think for last year’s players what happened in the grand final will definitely be on their minds… I know it is with me,” Thunder coach Cherie O’Neill said on Friday.
The Thunder has made an encouraging 2-0 start to the season, while Deer Park is yet to win a game.
Meanwhile, it will be a big day for the Thunder on Sunday when its development team plays its first game in the new Northern Country Women’s League against Benalla.
“It’s very exciting for the club and the girls are all looking forward to being part of it,” O’Neill said.
