9.32am BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: It's done. Texas A&M have stolen the match from Sam Irwin-Hill's Arkansas Razorbacks with a touchdown in overtime. Flat! But this match will belong to Irwin-Hill and his amazing 51-yard fake punt touchdown run. It's going to be replayed over and over and over again across the US all day and that's a great thing for our Bendigo boy!
9.24am NEWS: While you kick back and take it easy this afternoon, spare a thought for Bendigo couple Alan and Jenny Buchanan. In seven hours the couple will tackle their first international marathon since being involved in the famous-for-all-the-wrong-reasons Boston Marathon in April 2013. Marathon running isn't new for this adventure-loving couple. Alan is lining up for number 46 today and Jenny number 33 although neither have run the Berlin Marathon before. Good luck guys! Rosemary Baker retired on Friday after 30 years in charge of Bendigo Health's special care unit. Her colleagues call her 'the face of the community' because she's so well known and done so much for so many people, often in their hardest times. Dr Andrew Lovett offered this amazing quote about Rosemary: ''She has been remarkable for being calm in crisis. She's resuscitated more babies than any other nurse I know. 8.30am TRAINS: V/Line is giving the Bendigo line a green light this morning. Good service.
8.25am EMERGENCY SERVICES: So far so good on that front. A Bendigo Advertiser ring around this morning has so far found it's been a quiet night on the police, fire, ambulance front which is great news. Especially given AFL grand final day is traditionally one of the bigger days on the calendar for celebrations.
8.20am WEATHER: Well, it's going to be a beautiful 25 today. 20 on Monday and 23 on Tuesday. Now that's more like spring. Sadly, it's going to fall to 17 on Wednesday with chance of some showers so it's important to get out there today and make the most of this good stuff.
8.10am BREAKING NEWS: It's a Bendigo boy playing football of a different kind that's capturing the attention of the United States right now.
Sam Irwin-Hill, a former Catholic College Bendigo student, is now a punter with the Arkansas Razorbacks in US College football.
Well, the Razorbacks are playing the biggest game of their lives against the highly-fancied and sixth-ranked Texas A&M and it's Sam Irwin-Hill stealing the show.
He went to punt the ball back down the field but faked instead and ran 51 yards all the way for a touchdown which has sent Twitter into a frenzy.
Arkansas holds a 21-14 lead and are on the verge of one of the biggest wins ever!
8.05am: Good morning Bendigo! A beautiful, sunny although a tad windy day in our great city.
No doubt it's a great morning for all you Hawthorn supporters and a bit gloomy for those that follow the Swannies after Saturday's grand final.
Not much fun for all the impartials either who just wanted a good game!
